Processor is the short name of the microprocessor CPU (Central Processing Unit). These components form a chip (or IC chip / Integrated Circuit) is a piece of silicon the size of a few millimeters square that contains tens of thousands of transistors and other electronic components.

Processors are often referred to as the brain of the computer, even though the reference to such a completely inappropriate. Processor only acts as a processing machine but not as a reminder. Reminder function is handled by a separate component called a memory. Processor holds a very important role in the computer system in which various aspects as can be seen as follows:

  • Performance: processor type used will affect the performance of computer systems. The ability of a processor determines the maximum performance can be achieved by a computer system.
  • Support software: a faster processor allows the use of new software or new features.
  • The reliability and stability: One of the supporters of the reliability and stability of computer systems is the quality of the processor.
  • Cooling and energy consumption: first processor power consumption is only a relatively small percentage of the components of the other. However, further, the processor consumes power even greater power than the previous generation. Of course, this situation causes heat processor faster and  its required cooling system.
  • Support motherboard: The existence of various of processor demanding appropriate motherboard. Meanwhile, the motherboard itself determine the capabilities and performance of the system.
